The Friends of the Dr. Eugene Clark Library is a non-profit volunteer organization created to promote and support the library and to encourage reading. The group is made up of an active group of citizens who value libraries by volunteering, advocating and fundraising (beyond the regular library budget) to meet the many needs of our local public library.
Examples of some of our work include:
- Fund the Summer Reading Program-294 readers in 2023
- Sponsor A Christmas to Remember in Lockhart, a FREE Community Event
- Funds for Dia de Los Ninos, Mini Con and Adult Craft Night
- Fund the Books for Babies Literacy Project and the Book Pages magazine
- Funds for Preschool Storytime, Spring Break programs and entertainment
- Annual Book Sale benefiting library programs
- Funds for Preschool Storytime, Spring Break programs and entertainment
- Raised almost $100,000 for library expansion- furniture for second floor, teen room, window shades for both floors
- 2014 winner of the Baker Taylor Award-a national award for outstanding support of the library.
